Dinner Time

Yesterday I was again in Bolivar Peninsula in Texas, looking for a good place to take pics of the seascape at sunset. But before it got too dark, I wanted to check out the shorebirds in Bolivar Flats one more time. As I saw last week, there were so many brown pelicans gathering around the quiet shore, waiting for the dusk.

Brown Pelicans started gathering before the dusk.

When I was quietly watching the pelicans on the beach, all the sudden dozens of American Avocets flew in front of me and started eating their dinner together. Maybe they thought I am no harm to them after observing me sitting quietly on the beach? Anyway, the way they eat food was interesting. They move around almost in the same direction, making the same posture almost at the same time in a quite fast pace. For me, they looked like a herd of sardines in the ocean, a more colorful version.
Happy dinner time birdies!
